North Portugal
Glamping in North Portugal
Discover the bountiful natural beauty of Portugal’s lush region. The landscape is dramatic and unspoiled, with fascinating medieval villages, historic castles and spectacular mountain ranges to encounter. Meandering through a verdant landscape of terraced vineyards and grand estates, the Douro river extends all the way from the Spanish border to the charming city of Porto. Famous for its gastronomy and Port wine and the Douro region is one of the oldest demarcated wine regions and a World Heritage site.
The climate in the Oporto area and further up north is softened by the currents from the Gulf. So the summers are sunny and pleasantly warm without becoming sweltering hot. This is one of the reasons why glamping in North Portugal in summer is recommended. In the regions of Oporto and Beiras, and in particular further inland towards Spain, the winters are colder than in the rest of Portugal. However, the temperature is still mild compared to the rest of Europe.
